An access log is a text file containing a full list of all of the files accessed by your website visitors. All the files which were requested in one way or another will be included, so if you have a PHP script app and a visitor opens only the home page, for instance, you may find many files inside the log. The reason is that there are components on the home page which are embedded - parts of other web pages, pics, etc. All of these files will be listed in the access log, so you're able to get a complete picture of the way your site functions. The information is in plain text format, so the logs are sometimes called "raw data" too. An access log shows the name of every requested file, the path to it, the date it was accessed, plus the user’s IP address, web browser and Operating System. More info, like the referrer site, is sometimes included too. A log file can be processed by various desktop programs for statistical purposes as an addition to the web statistics generated by your web server.

Access Log Manager in Cloud Web Hosting

Our custom Hepsia CP features a section dedicated to various logs and the access logs are among them. As soon as you sign in to your cloud web hosting account and visit this section, you shall find a list of all the domain names and subdomains that you have. All it takes to enable the generation of access logs is to press a button that'll be available next to each domain/subdomain. In case the option is active, you shall see a download link together with the file size so far, so you'll be able to save the file to your computer and examine it or process it with some program. Enabling or disabling the logs becomes effective immediately, so if you don't require one, you can stop it with simply a click from the same section of the CP. You'll still have the ability to access the already generated content by simply clicking on the Download link.

Access Log Manager in Semi-dedicated Servers

When you have a semi-dedicated server account with us, it won't take more than several clicks to activate the generation of access logs by our system if you require them. The feature may be permitted through the Hepsia web hosting Control Panel and this could be done individually for each domain name or subdomain you have within your account. As soon as you log in and check out the Access/Error Logs section of the Control Panel, you'll discover a list of all the hostnames with an On/Off button next to each one. One click will enable the log generation and a second one shall deactivate it, so you can control this feature with great comfort. A Download link within the same section will allow you to save the created content as a text file, that you can then use on your PC. Whether or not the logs are deactivated, you will still be able to download the data that's been previously generated.
